Step by Step Guides
There is an overall 24 page guide which describes the whole process of finding a new job.
“A Guide to Finding your Best Job Yet” introduces you to the five phases of finding a job and breaks each phase down into a number of process steps. There are 15 in all to cover the whole process. For each step the guide explains briefly what the step is about, and why completing the particular step will be of help to you. The guide allows you to audit your own preparedness to enter the process and to decide what support you may need.
If you access this guide and go through it will put you in an excellent position to design the specific support package that you require to help you find that Best Job Yet. If you are ready to do that now, you can go straight to “My Support” and design your own support package.
Individual guides
For each of the 15 steps in the process there is an individual guide that describes that bit of the process in detail. The guides concentrate on “what to do” at each step of the process.
Each guide starts by putting the particular step in the context of the whole process and suggests how you might complete the step. The guide directs you to the Worksheets that are used to support the process. The guide highlights the benefits to you of completing the step and makes clear what you will achieve if you complete the step and the things that you are expected to have completed before you start. The guide then splits the step down into a number of self contained tasks which you can complete in your own time.
The guides are designed in an easy access style with A4 page format and large font. A typical guide is around 15 pages long. The guide is intended to be interactive and space is provided for your own thoughts, notes and actions as you go along. A typical page layout is shown below to give you a feel for the style of the content.

To select the guide and the accompanying work sheets that are appropriate to you go now to “My Support” and select what you need.
Worksheets
We complement the “what to do” approach in the guides with a “how to do” approach in the worksheet. The worksheets are once again in an easy to access A4 format and are of variable length to suit the particular topic.
The worksheets suggest formats for completing specific tasks, and where it is appropriate give worked examples and suggest access to additional resources that may be of help to you with the particular part of the process.
The example below shows a typical layout of a worksheet.

The following example is of a resource table that highlights other sources of information and advice that are available to you.

There are a series of 50 worksheets that support the process. For convenience the worksheets are packaged with the appropriate guide.
Self Audit
Check lists are available on a number of topics that allow you to assess your own readiness to face the particular task.
The self audit checklists are available in PDF format and can be down loaded from this site. The checklists provide guidance to help you to calibrate your response and judge for yourself whether you are ready or not to proceed without further support.
The excerpt below shows part of a typical checklist.

If you would like to test your readiness on a number of topics go to “My Support” now and select the option that you want.
Personal Advice

So what can we offer you?
- Personal advice tailored to your needs and circumstances and delivered face to face or by telephone.
- Further support and advice to answer all the queries that you have via e-mail.
You can arrange for our advice to support you through the whole process, to support a particular phase of activity, to support a single step of the process or just to answer a few specific questions. It’s your choice.
The benefits to you of accessing our personal advice are that;
- We can assess strengths and weaknesses
- We can give feedback
- We can build confidence
- We can bring our experience to bear on your behalf
- We can tailor the advice to match your best interests
- You can make faster progress
- Your stress and anxiety levels can be reduced
- You can be more selective about the jobs that you go for
- You can gain an advantage over other candidates who are working on their own
You can arrange for access to advice from this site now and if you would like to do so you can go now to “My Support” and select the option that matches your needs.
Once you have completed the purchase of your advice package our advice and support will be available to you. We can respond to certain queries by e-mail, which will help you to make quick progress. There are certain points however where a conversation will be sensible and enable us to explore an issue more thoroughly. We will make arrangements with you via e-mail for us to have those conversations. If it is convenient for you we can meet face-to-face in our premises in Cheshire, but it will be equally effective for us to talk over the telephone.
The time that is available within the package for advice and support can be used flexibly at your discretion. It is equally acceptable to have a single consultation or two or three shorter ones. In a similar way, the time that is available for consultation by e-mail may also be used flexibly.
It will be most cost effective for you to have thought carefully about what your questions are before we talk. If you are able to e-mail your questions before hand then we can make sure that we get quickly to the heart of the matter and that the time spent in conversation adds even more value for you.
